Welcome to Everyday with Julia A --- It's Julia Aloisi here! You may be wondering what motivated me to create a blog discussing everyday occurrences in my life, so I am here to explain. As an undergraduate student at Slippery Rock University, I am studying both Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) and Philanthropy and Nonprofit Management. This semester, I am enrolled in a New-Media Journalism course for IMC. As a future IMC professional, I am beginning to learn the importance of journalism in my career. Journalism has changed significantly and may not be what you have in mind. New-media journalism is used to help us understand the content that is available to us through the use of various media outlets, specifically, the Internet. Ultimately, the purpose of creating this blog is for me to gain a greater understanding of the impact journalism is making in the digital world.
The Communication Department is housed in Eisenburg Classroom Building (ECB) on SRU's campus therefore I spend the majority of my days within the walls of ECB. Academics are my main focus but I manage my time well so that I can get outside of ECB and do the things that I enjoy for leisure. Some of my favorite things to do outside of the classroom are volunteering my time at local nonprofit organizations, working out, playing soccer, and spending time with friends and family. Being born and raised an hour outside of the city of Pittsburgh, it is safe to say that I am a Yinzer who loves all Pittsburgh sporting events. Above all, my favorite thing to do when I have the money (which is not very often as a college student) is traveling internationally. As a matter of fact, I am fortunate to be traveling to Stockholm, Sweden with a professor of the Communication Department and ten fellow classmates this spring break.

With such a busy schedule, I find myself looking for quick news sources while at school so that I can stay up-to-date on current events. I consume daily news through the New York Times. Outside of the U.S. and World sections, I really enjoy reading articles in the travel and food sections. As one of my professors once told me, detoxing from the daily news with some gossip is a great way to let the mind relax for a while. To do just that, I often read articles from Cosmopolitan to get the latest Hollywood gossip as well as beauty and style tips.
I may have been born in the wrong generation because I would rather communicate face-to-face with someone than through a phone. If you are more of the phone talker, you can find me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. You can also reach me at the email located on the contact page.
Stay tuned for more occurrences living everyday as Julia A.
